about
Stand High is a collaboration between Bronx Arts Charter For the Arts Middle School and Thrive Collective’s Rhymes Help Young Minds Excel program. This song is about working hard, making the best of what you have, setting goals, actualizing our dreams, and standing high no matter what gets in the way and doing it together. Through the course of 16 weeks students teaching artist and students connected to create original lyrics and production that lead to a final music video. In the course, students learned about the roots of hip hop, its correlation to social, emotional health, and community, how to write, conceptualize and construct songs, produce beats and perform lyrics.
